Dear Visitor,

January 2008

We trust that each of you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Last year was a very full year for our family. It was a year of blessings as well as sad goodbyes as several family members and friends have died. Truly, we look forward even more to our reunion with Christ in the sky, and with them!

The beginning of the year, we were very busy getting things ready for our trip to the U.S. This, in between our regular church activities, youth activities, Bible Institute teaching, and soccer games, kept us running! Halbert and Edgar had guitar lessons right up to the week we left in June and Halbert also had piano lessons. Two of my Mother’s sisters visited Honduras for the first time in June. It was great to be able to spend some time with them in between our preparations. June 15th, we said goodbye to family, friends, church, and pets, got on the big bird and began our one year church visitation period in the U. S. It was great to see Steve.

In July we started our travels by heading to the Northwest. It was great to see my Grandparents and family that we had not seen for five years! We got to see an aunt and some special friends in Arizona. While there, Mrs Judy Winkler, our first pastor’s wife when I was a child in Washington died. We were privileged to attend and nave a part in the funeral. It was also good to see some of Alba’s family in California. We had a wonderful time with our family in Oregon. We drove back to Texas through Colorado visiting another aunt and family. We got back to Texas in time for Labor Day and were there the month of September.

October saw us starting another trip that took us to churches in Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Oregon. October 11th, my Mom’s Mother passed away. We praised the Lord that we were able to go to Oregon and even have a part in the funeral. That same week, my Dad’s father had to go into a home for dementia and Alzheimer patients. Upon our return to the east coast, we were able to visit former missionary to Honduras Mrs. Matilda Jackson who we hadn’t seen since 1995 and some friends for several days in Virginia that we had not visited since they left Texas several years ago. That included a visit to Monticello, Mount Vernon, and Washington, D. C. It was exciting to visit the Congress, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, National Archives, and all the Memorials in the Mall. Of course, we saw the White House, but only from a distance. Visiting these important places reminded us how God has blessed our nation, the sacrifice of the founding fathers and many thousands of military, and that we need to fight to get our country back on the right track! We also were able to visit New York City one day and saw the Statue of Liberty, the site of the World Trade Center, and Times Square.

November saw us getting back to Texas from this long trip in time to spend Thanksgiving with Steve. It was our first Thanksgiving with him since 2001! In all of this trip, we were never on icy roads. We only saw a tiny bit of snow. We had some close calls, but praise the Lord we were not in any accidents. In December, we visited churches in Texas. We also made a trip to Mexico to visit a missionaries Darrain & Mari Coker and be in their church and a meeting with several others. We spent Christmas and New Years in Weatherford, Texas. We missed our family and friends in Honduras, though. Please pray for the safety of our home in Honduras. Recently someone poisoned our two chow watch dogs.

Halbert and Edgar stay busy with their school work. It is not easy traveling so much. Both are still playing the guitar and Halbert plays the piano when he gets the chance. Alba is doing fine. Halbert and Alba are helping Leslie drive now, so that is nice. The doctor diagnosed Leslie with type 2 diabetes, so please pray for him as he works on getting that under control.
We have some special needs about which we ask you to pray. The first one is the need of funds for our laptop computer and video projector for the presentation that we give in each church. We need to raise $2000.00 for this. If you could help us, please send your offering to the IBFI Mission Agency designated for us and our COMPUTER/PROJECTOR FUND. We praise the Lord that we have already received $1050.00 for this project!

Another need we ask you to prayerfully consider is a machine dug water well for our house in Honduras. We only have running water from the city one or two hours a day. The hand dug well we had has been drying up. For a three hundred feet well, pump, and installation we need $12,000.00. We praise the Lord that we have already received $500.00 towards this project. If you could help us, please send your offering to the IBFI Mission Agency designated for us and our WATER WELL PROJECT FUND.

We praise the Lord for His blessings in the work in Honduras. Pastor Edwin reported that he has baptized several more recently. This month, they had Vacation Bible School. We praise the Lord that several children were saved. They are very excited about the Lord’s blessings and that two families are more faithful. The end of January is the Annual Prayer Week. The Bible Institute continues training Honduran workers, also. Please pray about supporting the Bible institute monthly or giving a special offering.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support. We are honored to be your missionaries to the country of Honduras.
May God bless each of you in a very special way.

Yours with Hope For Honduras,

Leslie Priday, Alba, Halbert, and Edgar
